ECO-UNESCO held it’s annual Young Environmentalist Awards Ceremony in the Conference Centre in Dublin in May 2019. A total number of 322 projects were entered representing over 4,000 students participants, of which 102 finalists were shortlisted to be showcased at the final Awards Ceremony.
At the Awards ceremony, a special SDG Award recognising outstanding projects which successfully connected local projects to global challenges was awarded.
Sami Loni, Global Coordinator for the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Youth Programme in New York, was invited to give a keynote speech on the SDGs.
The Awards Ceremony also included video presentations congratulating the students for their work on the SDGs from Jeremy Sachs and the former President of Ireland and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mary Robinson.
